The General Authority for Civil Affairs is one of the most effective institutions of the Palestinian National Authority, headed by Minister Hussein al-Sheikh.

This body was established to follow up the implementation of the agreements with the Israeli side, specifically the civil attaché in these agreements, through which the Palestinian side seeks to assert its national sovereignty and its right to self-determination to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

The mechanism of work of the General Authority for Civil Affairs is as follows:

1. The General Authority for Civil Affairs is the link between the Palestinian National Authority and all civil authority institutions with the other party.

2 - Solving the various problems through the available means through what has been transferred since the establishment of the authority and civil powers from the Israeli side to the Palestinian side.

3 - Supervising the file of population registration, which is one of the most important work files in the Commission and includes multiple departments in the reunion and late registration (internal reunification) and granting permits

(Humanitarian cases, official delegations) and accommodation for investors.

4. Supervising the crossings and crossing points at Al-Awda crossing (Rafah), Karama (Allenby) and Karni and Erez crossings.

5- Supervising the entry of goods coming into the Palestinian areas such as

(Medicines, devices and equipment) and various grants to the Palestinian National Authority.
