Bluetooth Thermochron iButton

This app is used with Photologic Ltd. Model TA Bluetooth adapter to communicate with the popular Thermochron iButton. You will be able to wirelessly collect and view temperature history from the miniature button size temperature logger.

Once retrieved, view the whole temperature log of the Thermochron by scrolling a strip chart display.

The strip chart display has 0.5 C degree resolution over the Thermochron range of –40C to +85C. No scaling of the plot is performed which makes the display a constant and reliable standard on all Android devices.

You can save thousands of temperature logs to the Android memory as text/html files.

There is a demo mode in this app so that you may evaluate most features exception for the bluetooth connectivity, as that requirement is bypassed in the demo mode.

Application to collect data from multiple Thermochrons:

Cargo pallets that are equipped with Thermochrons can have their temperature history inspected by moving the Model TA Bluetooth Adapter from pallet to pallet to each Thermochron while collecting the temperature logs with a tablet or cell phone. Each log can be saved to the Android memory with a user chosen file name. The Android application also allows the user to program and retrieve an identification name inside the Thermochron, eg. “Pallet # 5”. This feature helps prevent mix-ups of Thermochrons.

Application as On/Off Event Recorder:

The system can also be used to log “ON/OFF” event times that involve changes in operating temperature such as electric motors, overhead lighting, automobile engines, power transformers or even water usage times in pipes. A small amount of heat change as low as 1 degree C of ON time is often noticeable as a step in temperature that can be distinguished from ambient temperatures, eg. a time stamped bump on the strip chart for 5 minutes can indicate when a pump motor or industrial machine was switched on. Mount the Thermochron by the motor or power supply.

Application as pollable device in building maintenance:

If the Model TA Bluetooth Adapter is permanently powered and located in a secured area, the temperature of that area may be remotely polled wirelessly, such as from another room or floor,

or even from outdoors. The logger can be relaunched remotely by this app to maintain the application purpose indefinitely. An example could be for an inspector to collect equipment on/off times, or freezer performance at a distance from a storage facility, even from a car.
