Pulavar Keeran

Those who have heard Pulavar Keeran in his lifetime still miss his mesmeric voice, his fluent, chaste Tamil and the impact of his discourses in which literature and religion were melded into a captivating whole. If the devout came to listen to the religious tales, language lovers came for the literary impact that his talks had.

“To keep the present generation informed about the religious values of our country, people should come forward to release the books written by eminent writers,” said the Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Jayendra Saraswathi.

He was speaking at the book release programme organised by Pulavar Keeran Selvamani Keeran Trust recently at Sri Sankaralaya, Chetpet. The Sankaracharya released a book titled ‘Kamba Ramayana Kalanjiyam' and CDs of discourses on different topics by the late orator. The Seer recalled the services Keeran has rendered during his lifetime by advocating language and bhakti through discourses.
