The first ever BRICS Film Festival will be held from 2nd to 6th Sep, 2016
The first ever BRICS Film Festival starts from 2nd September to 6th September, 2016 at Siri Fort Auditorium Complex, New Delhi. The festival will be a platform for people of the film industry of member countries to provide them an opportunity to explore areas of cooperation and will serve as a window of cultural exchange. Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India is the organiser of the Film Festival. The main focus of the festival is to celebrate the excellence of cinema by rewarding film makers, actors, producers and directors. Festival has a competition section in which 20 films will be screened. Each country has nominated 4 films in this section. The movies focus on a variety of issues and themes ranging from discrimination, love, history and social issues. The films will be judged by an eminent jury with one member from each country. The jury members are Francis Vogner do Reis (Brazil), Kirill Razlogov (Russia), HouKeming (China), XoliswaSithole (South Africa) and T.S Nagabharana (India). The jury will judge 20 films in the competition section and give their recommendation in the following categories –Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female) and a Special Jury Award. Winners of the award shall be presented BRICS gold medal and a Certificate of Excellence.The festival will close on September 6th, 2016 with a Closing Ceremony focused on the journey of Indian Cinema and a Gala Cultural performance from China, who will be the host for next edition of this Film Festival.
