In areas where the waters, such as rivers, marshes, ditches and lakes, there are still a lot of fish that can be used as a protein source. One of these catfish (Channa striata), which is widely known by the people of Indonesia. This fish is in the waters that has not been contaminated by pesticides. In nature catfish is a predatory fish, a predator of small fish, insects, frogs (tadpoles), snails, worms and other aquatic animals.

Adult catfish can grow up to one meter long. Rather squashed like a big-headed snake's head (so called snakehead), with large scales on top of head.
