App that measures the tennis serve speed in real time

Real Time Tennis Serve Speed is an app that measures the tennis serve speed in real time (it says the measured speed immediately after the serve execution, without any human intervention). It is intended as a training tool, to be used to test/improve service technique, racquet type, strings type/tension, etc. and to monitor improvements in time. Note that in order to work properly it should be used in the right conditions and following the correct instructions.

Ideal conditions:

- outdoor with good natural light;

- sun lateral or (better) behind (not in front of the smartphone; it should never be included in the camera view);

- smartphone on the ground, with the back camera pointing to the sky (angle of around 45°, you can try to find the best one in your conditions);

- no moving objects/people in the camera view (the ball recognition is based on movement recognition);

- no wind: it could cause the movement of objects included in the camera view (for example the court central net) so producing false detections.

Poor light conditions could prevent successful speed measurement.

Artificial light usually does not allow a correct measurement. In some cases, however, it works (it depends on quality and intensity of the light).

The app uses image recognition/processing techniques which require good hardware and an updated/complete version of Android OS (minimum Android 8.0, Oreo).
