Hindwi Dictionary

Hindwi Dictionary is an initiative of Rekhta Foundation to create the most exhaustive dictionary of Hindi and regional languages. This shabdkosh covers 11 languages including Hindi, Awadhi, Kumauni, Garhwali, Bagheli, Bajjika, Bundeli, Braj, Bhojpuri, Magahi and Maithili. This is one of the largest multi-languages dictionary with over 5 lacs words and counting.

Our languages are very rich with interesting idioms and proverbs, this dictionary has covered them all with minutest details. To help understand and use the word effectively, all possible meanings including archaic meaning with usages are provided along with detailed parts of speech, synonyms, antonyms etc. Origin of words and other interesting information around a word are also mentioned to make the learning fun.

We understand that large base of users are looking for meanings of Hindi words in English or Hindi equivalents of English words and we have given our best efforts to provide these as well.

And all this comes with a simple and fast SEARCH feature wherein you can search the Hindi words in Roman or Devanagari. State-of-the-art user experience have been considered to make learning new words a real FUN!

हिन्दवी डिक्शनरी—रेख़्ता फ़ाउंडेशन का उपक्रम है, इसका उद्देश्य हिंदी और हिंदी क्षेत्र की भाषाओं-बोलियों का व्यापक शब्दकोश तैयार करना है। इस शब्दकोश में हिंदी के साथ क्षेत्रीय भाषाओं-बोलियों में अवधी, कन्नौजी, कुमाउनी, गढ़वाली, बघेली, बज्जिका, बुंदेली, ब्रज, भोजपुरी, मगही और मैथिली सहित 11 भाषाएँ शामिल हैं। यह शब्दकोश 5 लाख से अधिक शब्दों के साथ बड़े बहु-भाषिक शब्दकोशों में से एक है।

हमारी भाषाएँ रोचक मुहावरों और लोकोक्तियों से समृद्ध हैं, इस शब्दकोश में इन सभी पहलुओं को विवरण के साथ प्रस्तुत किया गया है। शब्द को प्रभावी ढंग से समझने और इसके प्रयोग में मदद के लिए, भाषा के विस्तृत भागों अर्थात् प्राचीन अर्थ, समानार्थक शब्द, पर्यायवाची और विलोम शब्द भी प्रदान किए गए हैं। सीखने की प्रक्रिया को आनंददायी बनाने के लिए शब्दों की व्युत्पत्ति और अन्य रोचक जानकारी भी सहेजी गई है।
