JakSL
About JakSL
Application to help learn sign language learning.
JakSL was made to provide a medium through which the Indonesian Sign Language, BISINDO, could be taught via video. The reason why this mobile phone application is made of the deaf and hearing - wanting to learn This was clearly evident at several seminars Jerick has attended.
JakSL follows the class of BISINDO teachings, and it is put in order of increasing difficulty to make it easy for users to follow. When the user opens the application, they are given a selection of 3 difficulty levels, with 1 being the easiest. Once they have selected their level, it will show them a variety of different categories, or "classes", on the application. Then, after selecting the category, around 30 words for each level Jerry Hartono or Surya signing the words.
This application aims to help the public learn 3 levels of difficulty of sign language. This will hopefully pique their interest in wanting to learn more, or to expand their vocabulary which can be used to interact with the deaf. With JakSL, the hearing (or the deaf) community that use and learn from it will learn the basics to be able to strike conversations with the deaf or try to understand the deaf. This will help to bridge both communities together.
Currently, the application contains levels 1 and 2, and we will update the application once level 3 has been filmed.
