The app has a transparent background so you can see what was behind it. This is NOT a widget, as it provides the same functions without the overhead of a widget. This app also works beautifully on tablets.

[Note that on Ice Cream Sandwich and higher devices (Android 4.0+), the Ringer and Notification sliders are locked together, as they cannot be separately controlled under the newest Android versions. For older versions, the sliders will move separately.]
