Not all drugs are equally useful, and about 30% of drugs on the Russian market do not have a properly supported evidence base. This calls into question the validity of their use in the manufacturer's testimony. Moreover, some of these diseases with ineffective therapy can lead to an increase in the duration of treatment, as well as contribute to the appearance of complications.

With the ProDrug Mobile application, you can separate truly working and safe products from potential “dummies” whose effectiveness has not been confirmed according to modern standards. To evaluate the drugs, we use the results of meta-analyzes of their clinical trials published by world scientists in leading international publications. This approach allows us to ensure high quality and reliability of the data provided on the validity of the use of specific drugs for various diseases.

The science that develops standards for evaluating the effectiveness and safety of treatment methods (including drug therapy) is called evidence-based medicine. The developed methods for assessing the quality of drugs are based on statistical methods and take into account many aspects of the research, including: their quality and quantity; the validity of the selection of cohorts of patients; the effectiveness of the drug in different groups and a number of other indicators. If the studies were carried out incorrectly (for example, very small samples of patients were used, there was no comparison drug, etc.) or with violations, then the effectiveness of the drug is considered unproven, and its use in the studied disease is unreasonable. On the contrary, a drug that has passed a series of qualitative tests, the results of which are consistent with each other, which did not cause unpredictable adverse reactions, is considered effective, and its use for the treatment and / or prevention of the disease under study is considered reasonable.

The most authoritative and well-known community evaluating treatment methods is the British Cochrane. In this community, the level of evidence is divided into 4 categories (from "D" to "A"). The worst rating characterizing the extremely low quality of the tests performed and the results obtained is “D”. At the same time, an “A” rating allows you to have no doubt about the effectiveness of the drug and the validity of its use. Intermediate results indicate some flaws in the testing process. A drug with a rating of "B" should be considered as highly likely effective, while a result of "C" indicates that the evidence base is rather weak.

According to the standards of the United States and most countries of Western Europe, only those drugs are subject to state registration, the validity of the use of which, assessed using evidence-based medicine methods, is beyond doubt. However, in the CIS countries and Eastern Europe, the established requirements for the registration of new drugs are much weaker. As a result, about 1/3 of the drugs in these markets do not have properly proven efficacy and safety, and their use may even be dangerous.
