Woodpecker

The Woodpeckers (Picidae Scientific name) is one of the eight families of the Woodpeckers. They are found throughout most of the world, except Australia, New Zealand, Madagascar, and very rare in the polar regions. Most of the woodpeckers live in the forest or in areas of high vegetation, some of which live on rocky slopes or in the desert.

Other families of Galbulidae, Bucconidae, Ramphastidae, Indicatoridae are closely related to the Woodpecker family. Recently, the results of DNA research have confirmed this view. [1]

The Woodpecker contains about 200 species, ranked in 30 genera. Many species are threatened by habitat fragmentation or habitat fragmentation. Campephilus principalis and Campephilus imperialis are considered extinct for 30 years
