Ageing Game

The Ageing Game was developed for my Computer Game Engineering MSc final project at Newcastle University in conjunction with the Centre for Ageing and Vitality.

The aim of the game is to teach the biology of ageing through engaging game mechanics and an educational tutorial. As the body ages it becomes less and less capable of repairing damage caused by stresses. You must control the heart's natural defences in order to protect the heart. The better you protect it, the longer it's owner will live and the higher the score you will achieve.

The game and the framework on which it was built were developed from scratch in Java using no middle-ware other than OpenGL ES 2.0 and the Android API. A large emphasis was placed on developing a highly optimised Android framework which was general enough to be reused to develop other games.
