Blackout window shades do not necessarily need to match throughout the home. Different rooms serve different purposes, which mean they each require different wooden window blinds. Natural light helps to brighten a living room. A semi-sheer fabric short window curtains offers light as well as subtle privacy. Heavy draperies in media rooms and/or a basement absorb sound, block light and can make a huge difference when watching television. Yet in bedrooms, I often opt for a blackout shade with door window blinds panels for a soft, romantic and relaxing aesthetic. Kitchen areas may require a valance and some type of shade to allow for a bright and cheery atmosphere.
