McLuhan Walks

This mobile app will take you on a tour of McLuhan’s Toronto, mapping out spaces and places that were meaningful to him. Extracts from his letters, both written and read aloud, bring the city alive and provide a unique window into the life of an extraordinary Canadian.

"McLuhanWalks" is a project initiated by the Urban Media Lab research initiative led by Paolo Granata, Visiting Professor and McLuhan Centenary Fellow at the University of Toronto, in conjunction with Digitelling and MobileMuseum research units at the University of Bologna. It aims to design and develop new forms of storytelling for the historical, artistic and cultural heritage through mobile technologies.

All the content are off line so that it is possible to access information even when connectivity is not available.

The main features of this application are:

- Travel Guide organized into categories

- Photo Gallery for each point of interest

- Positioning Map and directions for each point of interest

- Display more than one category on the map

- Display of the distance to each point of interest

- Save points of interest in the "Favorites"

- Search engine
