Imam al-Bukhari was the first to write a single book on the authentic hadith, and he called it al-Jami al-Sahih from the hadith of the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - and his Sunnah and his days.

Imam al-Bukhari says about his Sahih book: I collected my book, the Sahih, from six hundred thousand hadiths from the Messenger of God - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him-, and I spent sixteen years composing it, and I saved it as an argument between me and God Almighty. [1]
