Tigers (Latin: Panthera tigris) are animals belonging to the phylum Chordata, vertebrate subfile, class of mammals, meat eaters (carnivores), the family of felidae (cats), genus panthera, and belong to the tigris species.

Tigers are the largest type of cat of its species, even bigger than lions. The tiger is also the second fastest cat in running, after the break. In the whole carnivore, the tiger is the largest carnivorous cat and the third largest carnivore after polar bears and brown bears.

Tigers usually hunt rather large prey such as sambar, deer, pigs, or mouse deer. However, tigers will hunt small animals such as hedgehogs if the rather large prey does not exist.
