The two-level maintenance system is how the Army delegates the responsibility of defining specific tasks to be performed at each echelon of maintenance to ensure weapons and equipment are maintained effectively and efficiently. The system is a process that separates Army maintenance into two distinct categories: FIELD maintenance and SUSTAINMENT maintenance.
