The rapid growth in the availability and popularity of online cloud storage services allows easy access of our files from any device or network. But due to the security risks involved and limited storage capacity available, it becomes essential for the users to use online storage smartly. The objective of the project is to provide an additional layer of security and help the users efficiently manage the cloud storage space available while storing their personal images.

Use Case:

This application will allow the user to compress and encrypt the an image which can then be uploaded to an online storage and also decrypt the image after downloading.

• Users will open the android app after login/sign up. They can then click a photo or select one from their gallery. The image will be converted into a compressed format in the phone’s local memory.

• The application will support all popular image formats – PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP [5] etc. and compress it to a JPEG format. The user can also choose the compression ratio and the image’s file size will get reduced accordingly.

• After the image compression, Blowfish encryption is applied to provide a layer of security to image. For each user a private key will be generated and saved in the user’s local storage which will be used for encryption/decryption of the image.

• The user can then upload this compressed & encrypted image into online cloud storage.

• When the user wants to view/download the image, the app will first download the image from the cloud, decrypt it and then allow the user to view.
