The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd evolved gradually to this present day official title which was adopted in 1969. It was founded by St. John Eudes under the title of the Order of Our Lady of Charity on November 25, 1641, in Caen, France and by St Mary Euphrasia Pelletier in Angers (France) taking the title of The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd of Angers. It was approved by Pope Gregory XVI on January 16, 1835.
