They live almost exclusively in the New World. Striped skunks are common from southern Canada to Costa Rica pork skunks from the southern regions of the USA to Argentina spotty skunks from the south of British Columbia and Pennsylvania to Costa Rica. Attributed to the skunk in 1997 the smelly badgers are the only two species of this family that live outside the Americas. They are found on the islands of Indonesia.
