Do you already use Adium on your Mac to chat with your friends? Why not also send & receive text messages with your phone number, using Adium? SMS Plugin for Adium let's you do exactly that.

Download the app and create an "SMS Plugin for Adium Account". You will need to add your account on Adium (step by step instructions are included in the app). Once you add your account, all your phone contact list will appear online on Adium and you will be able to send & receive text messages with them, through Adium app.
