Offline expense, income & investment tracker. No account. Optional Drive backup.
Open Ledger is a completely offline expense, income, and investment tracker. No account, no signup, no server — your financial data never leaves your phone unless you choose to back it up.
HOW IT'S DIFFERENT
Most finance apps require an account and send your data to a company's servers. Open Ledger doesn't. There's no login screen, no cloud database, no analytics, and no ad SDKs. Everything runs locally on your device in a private SQLite file that only this app can read.
TRACK YOUR MONEY
★ Add an expense in 3 taps — amount, category, done.
★ History grouped by day, with per-day totals and a monthly category breakdown.
★ Per-category monthly budgets that warn you, never block a spend.
★ Sub-categories that roll up into a parent's budget automatically.
★ Track income across salary, interest, and your own custom sources.
★ Track investments — SIPs, stocks, FDs, gold, PPF/EPF — active or archived.
★ Recurring bills and subscriptions post automatically on schedule, even catching up after the app's been closed for a while.
★ Split a prepaid bill (like annual insurance) evenly across the months it covers.
★ Yearly summary by calendar year or Indian financial year (Apr–Mar).
PROTECTED BY YOUR PHONE'S OWN LOCK
Open Ledger asks for your fingerprint, face, or PIN every time you open it or return to it — the same way a payments app does. There's no account behind the ledger, so your phone's lock is what protects it.
BACKUP IS YOURS, IF YOU WANT IT
Backup is entirely optional and off by default. If you turn it on, one backup file goes to a private, hidden folder in your own Google Drive — invisible in your normal Drive files, and readable only by this app. You can also set a passphrase to encrypt the backup before it uploads, using industry-standard AES-256 encryption. With a passphrase set, nobody but you — not even Google — can read your backup. (There's no way to recover a forgotten passphrase — that's the trade-off for nobody else holding the key.)
WHO IT'S FOR
Anyone who wants real expense, budget, and investment tracking without handing their financial life to a company's servers — students, freelancers, and households who'd rather own their data than rent access to it.
OPEN SOURCE
Open Ledger is free and open source (MIT licensed). Inspect exactly what it does — there's nothing hidden. A separate self-hosted web version (with household sharing) is also available for anyone who wants to run their own server.
