Welcome to the application - Puerperal Disorders: postpartum depression.

Pregnancy and postpartum period are times of special attention in women’s psychological sphere, a moment marked by the development of a new being. The birth of a child is an important situation in a woman’s life, since many changes occur during postpartum period (daily routine, family etc.) and psychological rehabilitation, which can often cause mood swings associated with motherhood.

The purpose of this work is to describe mood swings during postpartum period and identify differential diagnostic criteria, as well as to characterize these changes in their conceptual, epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and prognostic aspects.

In this application we will address;

- Initial concepts:

Puerperal mood swing and the importance of its early diagnosis and treatment in order to satisfactorily assist mother-child relationship in a family, social, physical and psychological level.

-Epidemiology and risk factors:

The incidence and prevalence of postpartum depression and the risk factors involved in gestation and postpartum period.

-Classification and description

Approach and classification of mood disorders during puerperium.

-Differential diagnosis

Differential diagnosis regarding manifestations of mood swings, document that must highlight the importance of qualified hearing to collect information able to indicate forms of mood swings demonstrated by the woman during puerperal period.

-Tracking

The diagnosis of postpartum mood swings.

-Treatment

Postpartum mood swings treatment according to recommendations of the Ministry of Health.

-Psychosocial and psychological interventions to prevent postpartum depression

Recommendations for PPD management in Primary and Secondary Health Care.
