Ratnakar Pachchisi - रत्नाकर पच्चीसी

Ratnakar Pachisi is an epic poem which is recited in many Jain temples.

It was written by Jain monk Guru Ratnakarsuri Maharaj Saheb who was found by his shishya Sudhanshresthi to be hiding gems (monks are supposed to have no possessions). The poem is a long statement of remorse by the monk who admits to his weakness and personal insecurity, and crushes the gems, opening the door to liberation.

Shri Ratnakarsurishwar M.S. is the author of Ratnakar Pachisi. He was found in possession of gems by his disciple after which he felt extreme guilt because being a Jain monk, he was not supposed to possess anything that is materialistic and as a result of his guilt he crushed those gems and penned this beautiful epic poem to confess his guilt and describe his devotion to the Tirthankaras.
