'Time Machine' is a phrase coined by Wells himself. There is no doubt that as an author, he was born before his time. The book has been turned into films (that most of us will have seen) as well as plays etc. In some respects there is a certain naivety in the plot, but no more than would be expected given that the book was first published before 1900. Nevertheless, it's a book that should be on everyone's list of 'things to read before I die'. Magnificent!
