Dar Al Uloom University is the first private Islamic university to be established in the Somali Republic in the academic year 1419 AH corresponding to 1998 CE, with a sense of the importance of Islamic sciences in today's world, and to contribute with the rest of the private universities in Somalia.

Note that the university is an active founding member of the Association of Private Universities in Somalia.
