Dede Korkut Hikayeleri

Oğuzlar is the largest Turkish community that lived in Central Asia. Oguz after Turkey and the Middle East have continued and spread their assets. Almost all of the Turkish lineage today comes from the Oghuzes. Dede Korkut Stories are the oldest known epic story of Oghuzes, which can be accepted as the ancestors of Turks. Therefore, it is one of the most basic works of Turkish literature. Fuat Köprülü: "If you put all Turkish literature in one eye of the scale and Dede Korkut in the other, Dede Korkut outweighs again."

This work, which consists of 12 stories, describes the way of living, traditions, customs and many events of the Turks. Dede Korkut is a wise person who takes part in all these stories. This wise person, who is said to have lived 295 years in some narrations, is the narrator of the stories. Dede Korkut, who appears with his kopuz at the end of each story, reads prayers to Oğuz gentlemen and their sons, and poems and wise words.

Dede Korkut, whose name is referred to as "Korkut" and sometimes "Korkut Ata" in historical sources, is described as a shaman in some sources, while in some written sources it is told to the monarchs as a Muslim Turkish guardian. Dede Korkut is a guiding person whose ideas are used during the troubled times of the people and sometimes he is a blessed person who exhibits miracles to defeat the enemies.
