- Ali Jaber Surah Al-Baqarah:

Ali Abdullah Jaber Al-Saeedi (August 27, 1953 / Dhu al-Hijjah 1373 AH - December 13, 2005 / 12 Dhu al-Qi`dah 1426 AH) was the imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca from 1401-1409 AH, during which he traveled to Canada. He officially left the imamate in 1402 AH.

He returned to be in charge of the imamate in 1406 AH until 1409 AH after a long illness, and a teacher in comparative jurisprudence at the Department of Islamic Studies at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah.

Ali Jaber was born in the city of Jeddah in 1373 AH in the month of Dhul-Hijjah. He moved to Medina with his parents when he reached the age of five.

Millions of Muslims loved his recitation, and many imams imitated him because of his distinctive recitation style. He had no desire for the imamate at all, but he interjected into it, and he was the main motive for memorizing the Book of God, but rather memorizing it, rationalizing it, and contemplating its meanings.

It was not intended for him to be an imam, but God Almighty willed that he assume the imamate in the Al-Ghamama Mosque in the Prophet’s City for two consecutive years: (1394-1396 AH).

The sheikh led the worshipers in 1410 AH and several years later, then the sheikh was tired of illness and he could not stand for long, so he would pray half the prayer and complete the prayer with another young man, then the sheikh would no longer lead the people.

He obtained a doctorate and at the same time was an imam of Tarawih prayers in the Grand Mosque, and then became a member of the teaching staff at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, where he studies comparative jurisprudence.

He apologized for the judiciary after obtaining a master's degree after he was appointed as a judge in the Maysan region near Taif, then a royal order was issued by King Khalid bin Abdulaziz to release him from the Ministry of Justice.

The funeral of Sheikh Ali Jaber:

Ali Jaber was born in the city of Jeddah in the month of Dhul-Hijjah in the year 1373 AH. He goes back in his lineage to the Al-Ali Jaber Al-Yafa'i tribe, who settled in the Khashamir area in Hadramout, and spread the call to monotheism there and fought ignorance and superstition.

They were known for their adherence to the book, the correct Sunnah, and the creed of the righteous predecessors, and their call to the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jama`ah, from which his father, Abdullah bin Saleh bin Ali Jaber, moved to Jeddah in the Hijaz and settled there.

Ali Jaber was studying in one circle with Sheikh Muhammad Ayoub at Sheikh Khalil Al-Rahman Qari at the Holy Quran Institute, although Muhammad Ayoub was several years older than Ali Jaber and preceded him in memorization.

Ali Jaber combined memorizing the Noble Qur’an with politeness, shyness, and calmness, which was what his sheikh Bukhari spoke of, who explained that he had little play with his peers.
