Santoshi Maa Chalisa | श्री संतोषी माँ चालीसा

Santoshi Maa (Hindi: संतोषी माता) is worshipped as “ The Mother of satisfaction” which is meaning of name. Maa Santoshi is an emblem of love, contentment, forgiveness, happiness and hope. It is believed that fasting and praying Sanotshi Maa for 16 consecutive Fridays brings peace and prosperity in one's family.

She is venerated as "the Mother of Satisfaction", the meaning of her name. Santoshi Mata is particularly worshipped by women of North India and Nepal. A vrata (ritual fast) called the Santoshi Maa vrata performed by women on 16 consecutive Fridays wins the goddess favour.

Chalisa refers to Hindu devotional poem consisting of Forty Verses. The word “Chalisa” comes from “chalees” which means forty.

These chalisa verses sing the praise and recall noble deeds of the deity to whom poem is devoted. It is believed that with constant recitation and fervent devotion one can become free from all sins and sufferings.
