Shelfie

Shelfie is a player and reader for Audiobookshelf, the media server you run yourself. You need a server to use it — Shelfie does not host anything, and there is nothing to sign up for.

LISTEN

Stream a book and pick up where the last device left off. Chapters, playback speed that each book remembers, skip intervals you choose, and a sleep timer that can wait for the end of a chapter rather than cutting one short. Lock screen and notification controls, so the phone can stay in a

pocket.

OFF THE NETWORK

Download a book and listen anywhere. Time listened is recorded per day on the device and handed back to the server when there is a connection again, so a week in a tunnel costs you no history.

Offline mode browses and plays what you have downloaded. The app also keeps whatever is playing downloaded, within a budget you set, so a dropped connection does not stop the audio.

READ

EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2 and CBZ open in the reader, and your place is kept in step with the server, so the book you were reading on a laptop opens where you left it.

FIND THINGS

Libraries, home shelves, series, authors, collections and playlists. Podcast libraries with episode streaming. Bookmarks. Listening statistics. A book's other versions gathered on its page — the ebook shelved elsewhere, or a different narrator's reading. Links out to Goodreads, The StoryGraph,

Hardcover and romance.io for the times a book needs looking up. Covers can be replaced from the sources your server can search.

KEEPS UP

Changes on the server arrive over its socket while the app is open, so a book added elsewhere is simply there. Signing in works with a password, an API key, or single sign-on.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

Your library, your listening history and your credentials stay on your device and on your server.

Shelfie reports crashes so they can be fixed, and nothing about what you listen to, what you read, or which server you use.
