SMART BALABAG

Filipinos recently begun the texting capital around the world. Also, almost Filipinos has mobile phone not only for texting but also used for browsing through internet and for self-satisfaction as used for leisure. Providing an application that can be accessed through mobile phone that can be accessed through portal where can be download and install application purely for mobile phones is also a beneficial factor that makes the information of the community accessible. Not only that but this application can provide access to the request of any services that the resident usually made wish to have in the barangay.

The general objective of this study is to create the Barangay Balabag a technology-enabled community through implementing web and mobile technology with notification capability informing the resident. Particularly, the researcher has identified the following specific objectives:

1. To develop a web-based technology to barangay Balabag that has a module console that barangay services are accessed for the following:

1.1. administrator (Barangay Chairperson/Punong Barangay/Sanguniang Barangay Technology Chairperson); and

1.2. end-users (resident).

2. To develop a mobile application to barangay Balabag that has a module console in Barangay Balabag for the following:

2.1. administrator (Barangay Secretary); and

2.2. end-users (residents);

3. To develop a module in a web platform that automate and update on the following functionality:

3.1. post and display request of the residents;

3.2. notify residents on service requested; and

3.3. access necessary information when connected to internet.

4. To develop a module in a mobile application that that automate and update on the following functionality:

4.1. post and display request of the residents;

4.2. notify residents on service requested; and

4.3. access necessary information even not connected to internet.

5. To evaluate the performance of the smart Balabag project when evaluated by end-users (residents) and administrator (Barangay Secretary) in terms of;

5.1. functionality;

5.2. usability; and

5.3. reliability.

This study primarily aims to explore the known potential of technology and its feasibility in implementing it in a not so urbanized community like barangay Balabag.

Primarily, innovation is the main focus of the study which is based on the evaluation of the respondents for additional procedure to support the claims. Providing web-based and mobile application that supports the operations of the barangay on its major services that includes requesting, reservation and accessing clearances and certification as one of the highlights. As the major focus is through various request of the residents in the barangay, a notification module will be included to inform the residents that will be evaluated in the last objective of this study.

The administrator, user, and barangay staff could only access it via mobile application, but the information was available on the website.

Gathering of data will be done on or before January to March 2021 followed by the development and testing that will be done through online with the use of the team effort following the alpha testing approach.
