Christmas Music

Already in the Middle Ages, Christmas was lived in a very similar to the present: December 25 was commemorating the birth of Christ, beginning an extended period of celebrations, which lasted until the Twelfth Night on January 5 .

Churches offered special services, businesses operated fewer hours, people decorated their homes with holly, ivy and mistletoe; performance groups performing comedy plays (preceding the modern pantomime), taverns were full of revelers and families and friends gathered to bustle with food and drink, including turkey, fruit mince cake, oatmeal with plum and a beer specially made for the occasion.

The Christmas songs in a group were the last cry of fashion.
