Cowbell Hero

Cowbell Hero is an android game based on the classic Saturday Night Live ‘More Cowbell’ skit. The app allows the user to play the Cowbell along with the beat of a playing song. Cowbell Hero utilises the EchoNest music intelligence platform to query for artist and song information and streaming URLs. The on-device accelerometer is used to detect the 'cowbell' motion from the user.

From the settings screen, the user can adjust the accelerometer sensitivity level, as well as game length, vibration, and random ‘Walken-ism’ settings. The settings menu also links to the project webpage, the original SNL video, and contains options for sharing the app with your friends or contacting the developer.

Cowbell Hero also features a freestyle mode where the user can play the Cowbell without the normal musical accompaniment in the game mode. Use freestyle mode to practice for Cowbell Hero game mode or use it to add 'More Cowbell' any time you see fit. In the freestyle mode, clicking the on-screen cowbell will also play a random quote from the classic SNL skit.
