Golden History of The Jaipur Durga Bari Association

The knowledge of the history and the life of an institution, run by the community for the community such as Durga Bari is, should be an integral part of our belonging to the community.

The history of The Jaipur Durga Bari starts with a meeting held on 5 May 1947 at the Vyapar Udyog Mandal premises on the Choura Rasta. This meeting was attended by 25 prominent Bengalis of Jaipur who decided to form an association.

In the meantime, a plot of land, admeasuring 2003 sq yds, situated on D-166, Kanti Chandra Road(The present location of The Jaipur Durga Bari) was purchased on 14Aug 1956 from one Shri Madan Gopal Sodhani.

The first Durga Puja was held at the present premises in Oct 1956. The first meeting of The Jaipur Durga Bari Association was held on 3rd Oct 1957. By a trust deed, the Association was formally registered on 4th Aug 1958 under the Societies Act(sl no 70).

The foundation stone of the present Badi, in a smaller form, was laid on 1st May 1958. The Badi was completed in 1960.
