Easy DIY Bath Organizer

You can make bath time a blast, but theres still cleanup afterwardsI figured a fun and bright DIY bath organizer would encourage the kids to tidy up at the end of bath time, and even make that part a little fun. This organizer is big enough that you can keep toys and toiletries in itno more piles of body wash, toys and whatever else made it into the tub left at the bottom when you drain the water. Bonus: With the basket being see-through, the kids can easily see where their favorite toys are. Heres how I made the organizer; see the bottom of the post for some variations you can make.

Supplies needed

Clear vinyl (22.5 inches x 9 inches I used recycled zip folders)

Waterproof (fabric) paints or permanent markers, or colored vinyl

Fabric glue

Recycled cotton cord or cotton twine (6 2-foot-long pieces)

Eyelets

2 feet of bias tape store bought or homemade

Decorative applique stencil pdf

Optional: googly eyes

Instructions for making a DIY bath organizer

Step 1

Finish the two edges of the clear vinyl rectangle with the bias tape. Alternatively use colored vinyl to finish the edges.

Step 2

Cut out the design from the clear vinyl and decorate with fabric paint/permanent markers. If you are using colored vinyl you can just cut out your design.

Step 3

Using fabric glue, attach the appliqus and googly eyes and allow to dry. Sew around the outline of the appliqus.

Step 4

Place the two short edges next to each other and use a zig zag stitch (line up center of presser foot to the center of the two edges) to sew the edges together. I find it easier to do this with the basket turned wrong side facing out!

Step 5

Attach eyelets to base (to attach the macram base) and top (to attach handles) of vinyl.

Step 6

Macram base of basket starting from a central larks head knot. Use alternating square knots to macram in the round. Stop when the circle measures the same diameter as the base of your basket (approximately 8 inches). You may need a few stabilizing hand sewn stitches between rounds or alternatively use the coiled rope method from this DIY rope basket.

Step 7

Knot the ends of the cord/twine through the eyelets at the base of the basket.
