Speed Reading

This APP aims to design an intervention in the field of reading and be implemented with sufficient intensity in order to improve levels of reading fluency.

The application consists of six tabs:

- specialized training;

- printed texts;

- voice converter;

- clipboard;

- personal library

- public Library.

SELECTED TEXTS

Specialized training is a space where excerpts of public domain texts are found and is divided into three levels of difficulty, since it is essential that they read texts according to their reading level or slightly above.

TRAINING LEVELS

In specialized training, excerpts from works with a number of different words are proposed, having been divided into levels. These levels were conceived from the curricular goals of basic education and from what is expected to be read per minute according to age.

At level 1, the excerpts have approximately the number of words that are supposed to be read per minute at the end of the 1st year, according to the curriculum goals. At level 2 (3rd year) and at level 3 (at the end of 6th year).

TRAINING INTENSITY

Training requires intense practice, at least 15 minutes, three times a week. Every 45 minutes of reading, a message will appear to share the results with the authors of the APP.

In order to guarantee a greater commitment among the reader, a monthly plan was created that assumes a 15-minute reading session, to which a star is assigned when these are reached (accumulated).

In addition, the monthly plan contains 12 stars to be achieved, which presupposes exactly reading 15 minutes, 3 times a week and reaching 12 stars.

After 6 months, it is possible to start over (a different star is assigned that accumulates every 6 months).

PRINTED TEXTS

You can use any text you have printed or any book you want to read.

Important note: when using printed texts, you need to first enter the total number of words in the text, then start the stopwatch and, finally, stop at the moment you finish reading.

VOICE CONVERTER

The voice converter allows automatic speech recognition and its transcription into text, which facilitates the counting of words per minute.

You can copy any reading you have converted into text and place it permanently in the personal library space.

Note: to use the voice converter you need to be online or access on your mobile phone and follow these steps: enter settings, input language, google voice writing, offline voice recognition, everything, “portuguese” and download.

TRANSFER AREA (CLIPBOARD)

Previous note: when entering this functionality, the last information that has been selected and copied from the operating system will appear, for example sms, email or others.

This space allows you to read with automatic word count by transferring texts and / or document information available on your device.

PERSONAL LIBRARY

Personal library is a space where you will put all the texts that are being used for this reading speed training. This feature allows you to store (copying and pasting) the texts of any document opened by other APPs and these are available permanently.

Note: whenever you want to start the reading speed training from this feature, you must press 3 seconds on top of the desired text.

PUBLIC LIBRARY

In this library, there are works in the public domain, since they do not have ownership or copyright rights, so there is no use restriction.

In this APP the OpenDyslexic font is used, taking into account the recommendations of educators, teachers and other users.

The APP is available in two languages, Portuguese and English. To change you must go to the phone's settings and select the language.
