Aquascaping is a craft arranging aquatic plants, as well as stone, cavework, or driftwood, aesthetically in an aquarium-effect, gardening under water. Aquascape design includes a number of different styles, including a Dutch style garden-like and natural style of Japanese-inspired. Typically, home Aquascape fish and plants, although it is possible to make aquascape with plants only, or with rockwork or other hardscape and no plants. Although the main purpose of aquascaping is to create an underwater landscape crafty, technical aspects of water plant maintenance should also be considered. Many factors must be balanced in a closed system from the aquarium tank to ensure the success of an Aquascape. These factors include filtration, retains carbon dioxide at a level sufficient to support photosynthesis under water, substrate and fertilization, lighting, and control algae.
