Doze: Auto Sleep Timer

You start an episode, a playlist or a podcast in bed. Two hours later it is still going, the battery is gone and you have no idea where you fell asleep. Sleep timers help, if you remember to set one and guess the right number of minutes. Doze does not ask you to guess.

DOZE KNOWS WHEN YOU FALL ASLEEP

While something is playing, the front camera takes a few tiny frames every few seconds and checks, on your phone, whether your eyes are open. A blink never counts. When your eyes stay closed for a while, a small banner asks "Falling asleep?" and counts down. Still awake? Tap it. If not, the volume fades, playback pauses and the screen goes dark so it can turn off by itself.

WORKS WITH EVERYTHING

YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Twitch, Spotify, YouTube Music, podcasts, audiobooks, browsers. Doze does not need to know which app is playing: it sends the same pause command your headphones would.

SET IT ONCE

Turn Doze on and forget it. It rests during the day and wakes up in the hours you choose (21:00 to 08:00 by default), and only when media is actually playing. Skip a night from the notification whenever you want.

YOUR SLEEP, WITHOUT A WEARABLE

Because Doze knows the moment you drifted off, it quietly builds a log: "Fell asleep at 23:41, 14 minutes into playback." See your last nights, your average time to fall asleep and your usual bedtime.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• Frames are analysed on the device and discarded immediately. No photo is ever saved, shown or uploaded.

• The app has no internet permission at all, so nothing can leave your phone.

• No account, no sign-up, no ads, no tracking.

• The camera indicator blinks briefly at each check. That is Android confirming what the app does, and it cannot be hidden.

BUILT FOR BATTERY

• The camera is only used while something plays, the screen is on and it is night.

• A check costs a fraction of a second of camera time.

• Doze pauses itself when the battery is low.

PERMISSIONS

• Camera: to see whether your eyes are open.

• Display over other apps: for the countdown banner and the dark layer.

• Notifications: to show that Doze is on watch and let you skip a night.

Doze is a convenience for falling asleep to media. It does not diagnose or treat sleep problems.
