What is e-Shram Card?

The Government of India last year rolled out a national database for unorganised workers for the overall welfare of crores of unorganised workers of the country. The Modi government has developed an e-SHRAM portal, which will be seeded with their Aadhaar cards.

E-Shram Card Benefits

The e-SHRAM card will be acceptable across the country. After registering, the worker is entitled to get an accidental insurance cover and permanent disability of 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability under PMSBY.

In future, all the social security benefits of unorganised workers will be delivered through this portal.

In emergency and national pandemic like situations, this database may be utilised to provide necessary assistance to the eligible unorganised workers. All registered unorganised workers will be provided the accidental insurance coverage through Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) for a year.
