Today’s children and parents are more digitally connected than ever. Thanks to explosion in internet and mobile technologies, we are on a constant information overload. Those that do not embrace technology are left behind in this race. Technology has also made it possible for children to access more information than normally available only in textbooks. Parents have become increasingly vigilant and are keeping pace with this disruption to keep themselves informed about their children and support their growth into better human beings.

The desires to give the best for their children drive parents to demand technology in schools. This stems from the belief that technology will enable them and their children gain skills to fulfill their aspirations and keeping them upwardly mobile. One key area of gap that currently exists is parental involvement with their child’s school performance in a continuous basis. While there are present avenues such as parent-teacher meetings and technologies such as SMS notifications, these do not fulfill the ambitions of the digital parent who wants to be constantly plugged into the child’s growth.

Parents want abilities to see how their child is doing in school via pictures and videos, but do not get these facilities. Often these are left over to annual reports which only a few get to read and cover a certain set of students. Our research also shows that parents want to see and relish every moment that their child is growing by simply knowing how they perform at school, look their at their achievements and precious moments that they physically are not around to witness.
