Ad Hawk was produced by the nonpartisan nonprofit Sunlight Foundation. The app helps Americans know who spends money to influence their votes by providing valuable contextual information about the TV and radio ads they see during the 2012 elections.
We ask for permission to access your location because we collect anonymous location information with one-mile accuracy to improve our database of where political ads are airing and to identify slight variations across media markets. This is on by default, and can easily be disabled at any time in the app's settings. Your contributions help improve the database for everyone. Thanks!
