For mothers, it is important to know all about baby development. Once your baby is 6 months of age, you will begin to note plenty of changes. It is essential that you note how your baby develops every month. When he is about 6 months of age, you would notice quite a few baby developments in him in the 6th month.
First Week
In this stage, you can find your baby beginning to over toward a side. While you might be worried at the action, it is fun for your baby to do this. Once he starts to learn how to roll, you need to watch his movements closely. Do not make him lie on his bed without any adult supervision.
When he is 6 months of age, he also begins to look for attention from close ones. He will try to do things to catch your attention. He will try to provoke a response by crying as well as by other actions such as making sounds or by wriggling. At this stage, he will be more active. Thus, you need to dress him up in comfy clothes in order to support the movements that he makes. It is advisable that you dress him in breathable apparels, as it can provide him with more comfort.
Second Week
Babies begin to learn sign language at this time. They commonly develop motor skills quicker than they pick up speaking skills. Before being able to utter short words such as "bye-bye", they generally discover how to point or wave. For instance, you can point your index finger to your open mouth and signal that you are "hungry". It is essential to teach sign language to your baby, as it can let him develop linguistic skills.
You can also teach him to play turn-taking games, especially those involving language and sounds that babies tend to love. You may also make animal sounds to give him amusement or create fun sounds by splashing water in his bathtub.
Third Week
Once he is in the 3rd week, he will begin to use all his sense organs. He will love to hear bell sounds and imitate the ringing, gnaw his teeth to make sounds and more. This is the best stage to hand over books to him, to help improve his linguistic skills and develop the habit of reading in him. Introduce him to books with the colourful board or pop-up pictures that can attract his attention. Before he is 9 – 12 months of age, he will not have the patience to hear stories read out to him. But you should go on doing that anyway.
Fourth Week
He will like to bounce at this stage, which would make his muscles stronger. You need to grab his arms to make him stand on the floor. You will also find him using a single hand to grab stuff. Try to boost his motor skills by keeping a toy at a distance and allow him to grab it. Encourage him to do so, and make him more confident.
