A sametha (proverb) is a simple and concrete saying, popularly known and repeated, that expresses a truth based on common sense or the practical experience of humanity. They are often metaphorical.

Telugu samethalu (సామెతలు) has a huge collection of proverbs in telugu (తెలుగు) language.

సామెతలు లేదా లోకోక్తులు (Proverbs) ప్రజల భాషలో మరల మరల వాడబడే వాక్యాలు. వీటిలో భాషా సౌందర్యం, అనుభవ సారం, నీతి సూచన, హాస్యం కలగలిపి ఉంటాయి. సామెతలు ఆ భాష మాట్లాడే ప్రజల సంస్కృతిని, సాంప్రదాయాలను ప్రతిబింబిస్తాయి.
