Inbuilt Wildcards such as:

• “*” - it can be any character (matches zero or more characters). For example, "plate*" matches anything beginning with "plate" which means "plate," "template," and "plateau" are all matched.

• “_” - matches a single character. For example, h_t will find: hot, hat, and hit.

• “[ ]” - to list sets and ranges of characters to match. For example, [a-z] matches any character "a" through "z," which means anything not in that range like a number would not be matched.

• “^” - negates the set and matches only a character not within the list. For example, with h[^oa]t will find: hit, but not hot and hat.
