Tajwid is an Arabic term which literally means 'to do something beautifully or well'.

Tajwid comes from the word 'Jawadda' which means removing letters from their place by giving the properties that exist in each letter.

Tajwid science is the study of how to pronounce the letters in the holy book Al-Quran.

According to the term, Tajweed is the science that explains the laws and rules that are the basis for reading the Qur'an, so that it is in accordance with the readings of the Prophet Muhammad.
