Marseilles Artificial Reef

The Prado Reefs: The largest artificial reef site in the Mediterranean and in Europe!

Implanted in 2008 by the City of Marseille, 400 artificial reefs of various shapes and sizes have been immersed in the southern harbor of Marseille.

Located between the beaches of the Pointe Rouge, Prado and Frioul, these artificial reefs aim to encourage the return of fish and thus participate in maintaining the marine biological richness of Marseille and at the same time support local artisanal fishing.

The management is carried out by the City of Marseille whose Municipal Maritime Patrol monitors the site and informs users. Anchoring, fishing and diving are forbidden in this concession, except for monitoring and scientific studies and development actions.
