Self Defense unit of Social Safety Service Foundation has taken initiative to empower children and women through training and exposure in techniques of martial art. It is developed as comprehensive confidence-building program. It will teach them how to protect when the situation arrives. This likewise gives them the self-assurance to react to emergencies circumstance in a fitting manner. The essential reason for preparing in self-defense techniques is to improve the Safety Quotient (SQ) for children and women of all age groups.

The main objectives of the project DURGA is to empower Children, Women, enable them to defend against violence, any type of physical assault, criminal assault, attack, eve-teasing and to build self-confidence with the knowledge to help lead a safer life so that they can contribute meaningfully to their own development, shape their own destiny and capacity enhancement through Self-defense training and the use of everyday items such as a rope/belt/dupatta, a pen, a handbag, a perfume spray, pepper spray, etc to protect themselves in a crisis.

Self-defense isn't a tough job as thought by most of us. It’s an act that implies you have something valuable to defend and makes you realize the better conditioned you are the better your odds of surviving a hostile threat!

To all the women out there – your body is more capable than you think and your resolve is stronger than you believe. Do not restrict yourself. Note: It is advisable to not to use the techniques unless faced with danger as it may end up causing permanent damage. Not meant for children below 10 years of age.
