Read Recorder

Read Recorder is an open source tool used to display pre-written text on screen then guide the user through speaking, a new-line separated, sentence in the text document. Each document is considered a recording session. And each line in the document is an entry of that recording session.

Read recorder will first allow you to navigate your phone's file directory to find any text document that you've previously saved to the device. Once you've chosen a file, a new recording session folder will be created on the root of the device. Inside this folder you will see a copy of your chosen text document. You can plug your device into a PC or Mac then navigate to this recording sessions folder to see the contain files.

What's the recording session is ready the user will be prompted to press the record button then read the current sentence on screen out loud. Once they're done reading they'll have to press the stop recording button. Then they'll have the ability to play back what they have read and rerecord if necessary. Once they're done with this sentence they can hit the next button and start this process all over again with the next sentence.

Once they're done, the user can go back through any recording and rerecord it and/or review it.There is no need to save. There is no save button in the application. Everything is saved live as you work. So, if your device dies during a recording session or you get an incoming phone call you can always pick up where you left off. You can even redo a session that was recorded months or years ago. To see and verify that the app is saving data live you can plug your device into a Mac or PC then navigate to this session's folder located on the route of the drive. Once you can see the folder, start making recordings. You will see the folder start to become populated with audio recordings.

There's no special formatting for your text document. All you need is a new line separated document. Remember that each line is a new entry is the next button for the user. That's the only formatting needed for the app to function properly. if you have a document with 5 new lines, each sentence on each line, then the user will have 5 entries and 5x they can push the next button. If there's a line with empty data that will still be considered an entry line. so avoid leaving a line blank.
