Ramayana is an ancient Indian poem about the struggle of prince Rama to rescue his wife Sita from Ravana, the demon king. Ramayana came from the names "Rama" and "ayana" which mean Rama’s Journey. In summary, it narrates the life Rama, his banishment from his kingdom by his father, King Dasharatha, his adventures with his wife and his brother Lakshamana, the abduction of Sita, and Rama’s return to his kingdom to be crowned as king. Ramayana is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature, and it consists of nearly 24,000 verses divided into seven books and 500 chapters.
