Splat Squares

1 - 100 Squares are an essential resource in the Primary classroom. With 2 minute games covering addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and the open-ended 'Explore the 100 Square', Splat Squares provides a fantastic, interactive way of developing a range of mathematical skills.

Have you ever played our online game 'Give the Dog a Bone'? It's here in Splat Squares too! Going by the different name of 'Find the Number' it requires players to find a number on an empty 100 grid. Great for mastering the number grid and understanding the relationship between numbers.

Splat Squares consists of six different options with numerous differentiated levels. Use Splat Squares as a whole class resource or for individual practice at school and at home. Each option is detailed below:

Explore the 100 Square: A versatile tool for teaching a range of mathematical concepts. Select the paint colour and get splatting! Here are a few ideas to start, we'll post lots more on our Facebook page!

- Splat multiples.

- Find numbers where the digits add up to 10.

- Splat a number, can you make your number by adding 2 consecutive numbers? Are there any impossible numbers?

- Splat prime, square, cubic numbers or triangular numbers.

- Splat two consecutive numbers which add up to a square number, e.g. 12

and 13 = 25.

- Splat a number, make a sequence by adding x each time

All the levels below will record the Best Score and Best Accuracy, awarding a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal accordingly.

Find the Number: The numbers of the 100 Square are hidden! You have two minutes to splat as many given numbers as possible.

Addition: Splat as many correct answers in 2 minutes.

Differentiated levels included:

Tens & Units + 9

Tens & Units +10

Tens & Units +11

Tens & Units + Units

Tens & Units + Tens & Units

Tens & Units + ? = Answer

All the above levels can be played with the numbers of the 100 Square revealed or hidden!

Subtraction: Splat as many correct answers in 2 minutes.

Differentiated levels included:

Tens & Units - 9

Tens & Units - 10

Tens & Units - 11

Tens & Units - Units

Tens & Units - Tens & Units

Tens & Units - ? = Answer

All the above levels can be played with the numbers of the 100 Square revealed or hidden!

Multiplication: Splat as many correct answers in 2 minutes.

Differentiated levels included:

Multiplying by 2, 5 and 10

Multiplying by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10

Multiplying by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10

All the above levels can be played with the numbers of the 100 Square revealed or hidden!

Division: Splat as many correct answers in 2 minutes.

Dividing by 2, 5 and 10

Dividing by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10

Dividing by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10
